President’s Message
As we enter into the beginning of the 2012 FCAT administration, my mind has been with many of the
classrooms in Lee County and throughout the state of Florida.
While districts are bracing themselves for
the changes in the cut scores with FCAT 2.
0, teachers have continued to do an excellent job preparing
their students to handle the text and questions aligned to the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards
that they will encounter.
Using data to guide our instructional decisions, we teachers have improved our
craft through careful thought, hard work, and collaboration with one another.
I was recently working
together with a teacher of a fourth grade classroom.
When the teacher mentioned “FCAT” to the
students, I was so proud to hear the class chant, quite loudly and vigorously, “FCAT; bring that! I ain’t
