Leading the Way to Literacy NEWSLETTER AN AFFILIATE OF THE INTERNATIONAL READING ASSOCIATION VOLUME XXXII, NO. 2 FALL 2011 President’s Message The Florida Reading Association was thrilled to have so many of our members in attendance at our 49th annual conference this past September. Evan Lefsky planned a spectacular program for the conference. The tremendous amount of positive feedback from the conference was heartwarming. Denise Pedro, General Conference Chair for 2012, has begun much of the planning for next year’s conference to be held October 18th through October 21st . Mark your calendar appropriately; we are shifting to a date that is a month later for next year. As this will be FRA’s 50th annual conference, we will be celebrating this anniversary with special events and features. Please look for upcoming information posted at www. flreads. org and in email notifications. In each local district, we are facing the pressures of changes being instituted. As reading professi

Leading the Way to Literacy NEWSLETTER AN AFFILIATE OF THE INTERNATIONAL READING ASSOCIATION VOLUME XXXI, NO. 2 WINTER 2011 President’s Message I hope you are taking advantage of these cooler nights and curling up with a warm book to read. FRA’s Children’s Book Award has some suggestions for you to use with your class or your family. The Sunshine State books are very entertaining. I have read quite a few under the guise of encouraging students in my class to read them. ☺ The quality is great and they are fun! Our website http://flreads. org. has a list of books written with our sunshine state as their setting. The project is the Florida Teen Book Map Project for Adolescent Literature. Our editors carefully select these articles with you, the FRA readership in mind. Share your articles and your ideas with other te
