In order to be able to comprehend, learn and participate in higher academic settings, students need to be taught in a more contextually versatile manner. To be proficient in academic language, students need to be taught language in a variety of contexts. This allows students to be able to make connections in order to manipulate their vocab and grammar accordingly. Academic language varies depending on the situation and setting.
