The paper presents the way the tourism statistics was conducted in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in the period from 1918 to 1941. This branch of statistics included data on the "hotel industry", and data on healing waters, climatic and tourist sites. The Ministry of Trade and Industry was responsible for collecting data on the "hotel industry" in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, whereas the data on the spas and climatic and tourist sites were collected by the Ministry of Social Policy and Public Health. Data collected were published in publications of these ministries and Statistical Yearbook of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. By analysing the content of these publications, it has been concluded that tourism statistics was very detailed. By comparison with statistical publications from other countries of that time, but also with modern statistical publications, a conclusion has been reached on the high level of development of tourism statistics in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
