Art skill/Medium: Drawing Basic Instructions for class use: Students participate in a brief discussion about the difference between “whisper lines” and “noisy lines” and are given a chance to practice creating this in different shapes before ever attempting their first drawing. Then, student will agree upon a common item of interest (i.e. ice cream) they will each be attempting to draw. The teacher will lead them through the shapes that are found in their chosen objects with the students creating one shape at a time with whisper lines. Once the shapes are sketched out, students can outline their images with a black pen and then color it in. Possible classroom applications (Sci/SS): 1. Have students study and draw a national or state symbol (state seal, Washington Monument, White House, etc.) 2. Have students study an animal and create a drawing of that animal for scientific observation. 3. Have students create drawing of important community buildings/monuments (firehouse, police statio
