Lisa Wressell ED 633 October 22, 2017 Quantitative Research Reflection Mini Quantitative Experience: Student Isolation in Online Classes Problem Statement Online education has been around for twenty years, however, students are still more likely to drop or fail online courses than face to face classes. One reason is because students feel more isolated from their peers and instructors in online classes compared to face to face classes according to the 2011 study Online and Hybrid Course Enrollment and Performance in Washington State Community and Technical Colleges by Di Xu and Shanna Smith Jaggars. The purpose of this mini study is to determine whether graduate students at WOU feel more isolated in online classes compared to face to face classes.
