Conditions for geological storage of CO2 into a basic environment (Influence of the environmental conditions on the carbonation potential of Icelandic basalts) Association CarBaz² G. Boudoire, F. Boutelier, A. Cachet, G. Caron, J. A. Hernandez, E. Maxant, A. Noblet Introduction Since the designation of the carbon dioxide as the main factor responsible for global warming [Puget], industrialists and scientists have been constantly experimenting with processes to store sustainably the emissions of this greenhouse effect gas. If a geological storage in old oil and gas reservoirs is current with the pilot site developed by Total in Pau, France, it seems that a new promising process is emerging, driven by cooperation between American, French and Icelandic people and whose experimental ground is none other than Iceland. This process consists in injecting carbon dioxide in a middle made of basic rocks (SiO2 < 52%) in order to ensure the stability of a storage by carbonation. Indeed, CO2 and wa
