How are we performing? How can we do better next year? What do other schools do that we’re not? How can we motivate our students? What teachers will do better in the tested grades? Schools are ranked locally, regionally, and nationally. Test scores are a big contributing factor in considering teacher effectiveness. Teachers, principals and curriculum coordinators plan professional development during the summer months and throughout the school years on topics that they think will produce better test scores. In my limited time as a school teacher, I’ve never heard anyone in my district or at a professional development mention that the impact of a school’s library media program on its students is related to students’ test scores and their
