Alabama Rural Ministries Beginning in 1998 in Sumter County, AL, Alabama Rural Ministries was founded dedicated to two things: to minister to families with low incomes and establish a community full of discipleship and a willingness to serve. ARM extends the love of Christ through home repair and children’s ministry daily. Executive Director and founder, Lisa Pierce, said, ”Many times as we repair homes, the families are more touched just knowing others care about them. They love the relationships and friendships formed and remember this well past whatever repairs we are doing.” With 90,000 housing units in Alabama declining, help is needed and always appreciated! ARM is also very active with their youth. Literacy has become a large struggle in the rural Alabama area, so the children’s ministry focuses on improving reading and writing, while demonstrating God’s love. Also, they offer youth mission camps. Many churches across the Alabama area come together to repair homes during the day
