Castello Caterina di Montalcino Background Castello Caterina of Montalcino is a family owned vineyard originally from Montalcino in the Tuscany region of Italy. Anthony D'Antonio wanted to move to the states so his two sons could study at Vanderbilt University. The D'Antonio family didn't want to leave behind their beloved Castello Caterina, so they it brought it to the states. Castello Caterina has been a family vineyard in Tuscany since 1888. The past 129 years the family has been able to perfect their deep, full-bodied red wines that have become increasingly popular in the region. American tourists have visited Tuscany and the Castello Caterina vineyard and buying bottles by the crates in hopes that by the time they run dry, D'Antonio will have come to the states with his sought after wines. Nashville has the perfect soil for the D'Antonio's to plant their new grapes. They have purchased a large plot of land outside of the city for the vineyard and winery giving them plenty of room
