The logo/ masthead is featured on almost every issue of The Big Issue magazine, which has made them become a well-known brand that targets a niche market. Usually located in the top left hand corner, which is usually where a reader first looks on a page. The social enter- prise also reinforces the idea that they are not a charity through their slogan: “a hand up, not a handout.” This connotes that the people working and making money from the Big Issue and do not want to be treated as charity cases even if the vendors are homeless they wanted to be represented as someone with an ordinary job. The main image on the front cover features two male actors, Christopher Eccleston and Leon Harrop who each play a role in the TV show ‘The A World’, which is about a young boy who is diagnosed with autism and his family do not feel like a normal family anymore.
