Wilderness Living vs Survival Situations I recently received an email asking me a few questions concerning setting-up a base camp while out “survival living”. That’s his words, not mine. After a few back and forth exchanges I had a better understanding of what he was really wanting to know. He had two different scenarios confusingly tangled together...a mistake that a lot of novice outdoor enthusiast often make. With the advent of reality shows like ALONE and NAKED & AFRAID, there has been a huge up-tick in interest on the subject of outdoor living. Add to that mix all the YouTube videos and blogs on the subject...and well, you have a very soupy quagmire of information that many people have no clue as to what is good vs bad. The end result is a lot of unprepared folks tramping off out into the bush in search of the first unplanned disaster that awaits them.
