April 2017 - Issue n°4 The European Section in Suscinio On March 8th, every year is celebrated everywhere in the world the International Woman’s Day. This event aims at assert- ing the women’s rights that, in the XXIth century, are still not recognised in a large number of countries. The first ever Woman’s Day was cele- brated in 1909 by the Socialist Party of America, only on the national scale it was an original idea of Theresa Malkiel. Since, the idea has been developed, re- used first by Russians, that celebrated the first International Woman’s day in 1913, and then by numerous socialists and communists institutions. The United Nation began to celebrate the Internation- al Woman’s day in 1975. In 1977, the UNO proclaimed the March 8th as the day for women’s rights and world’s peace .
