Texas State Student Survives 34 Foot Fall (CANYON LAKE, Texas) – A Texas State student came out of a medically induced coma Sunday after falling 34 feet at cliffside trail Thursday. Maggie Douglas, the Texas State student, was training for a marathon when she fell. Randy Davis, a nearby fisherman, saw her fall and immediately called 911. EMS arrived quickly and were able to transfer her to Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels. “We placed her in a medically induced coma to allow the swelling on her brain to reduce,” said Dr. Blaine Holland, Santa Rosa Hospital Lead Surgeon. “When we brought her out of this coma, we were shocked and excited to see that she had no apparent permanent damage.” Dr. Blaine Holland said she has not seen anyone as lucky as Douglas. “I was so scared. All I remember is falling and waking up in a hospital,” said Maggie Douglas. “I am just so thankful that someone saw me fall.
