A tense opening orchestral non-diegetic soundtrack is used in the background of the opening which could foreshadow future events of the film. There is a fade to a young girl and the camera zooms out as she directly addresses the audience as she talks. Diegetic sound is used as the girl says that there is “Nothing to fear on the island”. This is ironic as we have just seen a dark and mysterious tone being set in the opening credits. The girl is dressed in white and speaks in a calm tone of voice, suggesting innocence and purity. There is a close up of a pair of eyes and then the colour of the screen changes back to the normal colours of the scene. Viewers see how the eyes belong to a young girl.
