San mames Stadium: Also known as La Catedral was a football stadium in Bilbao. The stadium was the home of Athletic Bilbao, known as The Lions of San Mamés. Opened in 1913it was Spain's oldest built stadium before its demolition a distinction that together with its religious heritage has granted it the nickname, La Catedral. San Mamés could seat almost forty thousand people and was renowned for the unique and boisterous atmosphere its crowds of devoted and loyal fans create on match-days. San Mamés is an all-seater football stadium in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. Inaugurated on 16 September 2013, the stadium replaced the "old" San Mamés as the home of Athletic Bilbao.
