Regardless, you learn to greet the next customer with a smile. Some people are harder to talk to than others. As a server, you might find yourself talking to someone of any age or background. It's your job to keep conversation flowing. When you're serving, your thoughts are on a constant loop of who needs what, who ordered what and where you need to help out next. People really do appreciate the little things. Taking the time to get to know a regular customer and remembering their name can really make an impression on them. (And your tip.)
