Sea of Galilee The Sea of Galilee, also Kinneret, Lake of Gennesaret, or Lake Tiberias, is a large freshwater lake and the biggest water source in Israel. Unlike groundwater, the Kinneret is part of the open view because of this we able to spend time and swim in it. The lake is mentioned in the Old Testament (in the Books of Numbers and Joshua) as the Kinneret - it is believed that the name is derived from the Hebrew word for harp, a "kinor" because the shape of the Kinneret is like a harp. However, on the open view and water of the Kinneret there is danger of a pollution. About 200 thousand people live today in the drainage basin of the Kinneret. They make big amount of Domestic wastewater, agriculturals and industrials. The fertilizers and the pesticides (from the agriculture), sewage of the dairy barns pollutants the Kinneret, the causes to the progression of the seaweed, and this cause to bad smell and taste.
