Samantha Green MC 4320 Professor Villagran 10/5/16 Crisis Communication Paper #1 The crisis that I am going to talk about in this paper is the influence of the negative response media had on the Amanda Knox trial on November 1 st 2007. To give a little bit of background on this story, Amanda Knox—A British foreign exchange student—studied abroad to Perugia, Italy when she was 21-years-old. In her study abroad program she met Meredith Kercher her then became her roommate. Knox then met her Italian native boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito. A few days after arriving in Perugia, Kercher is found dead in her bedroom. The detective running the investigation automatically suspects both Knox and Sollecito, due to their “inappropriate actions” during the discovery and removal of Kercher’s body.
