Increasing enrollment at Texas State University sparks controversy among students. By: Samantha Green For the 17th year in a row Texas State University has consecutively set new records for the number of students currently enrolled. Texas State’s enrollment record was at an all-time high for fall 2014 with 36,790 students enrolled. In the fall of 2013 the number of students was 35,568. "We take seriously our role in preparing our state's future leader and workforce, and this steady growth tells us that students and their parents feel the same way," said Texas State President Denise M. Trauth, in a University News Service press release. According to News from the Hill, Trauth said “our preliminary enrollment figure this fall topped 36,700 students and represents a roughly 3.5 percent increase from a year ago.” With this increase in enrollment Texas State would be the fourth largest university in Texas.
