SUNY Geneseo Students Appear Less Informed on Campus Fire Safety than the University Desires Chuck Reye Brings Fire Safety into the Classroom On October 24, SUNY Geneseo’s Online Journalism class was graciously given an opportunity to hear from guest speaker, Chuck Reyes. Reyes, Director of Environmental Health & Safety at SUNY Geneseo, politely gave up some of his time to come in and teach the class about important campus safety precautions and fire safety. Topics such as previous campus fires, common causes of a campus fire, what is important to know when facing a interior campus fire, ways to avoid starting a fire, and extinguishing a fire were just a few the class touched upon in the brief hour and fifteen minutes they assembled for. Towards the conclusion of his presentation, Reye asked the class for a student volunteer to help demonstrate how to properly use a fire extinguisher (pictured on the right).
