Evacuation Plans: The Importance of An Evacuation Plan Dr. Chuck Reyes is the Director of Environmental Health and Safety at SUNY Geneseo. Part of this department’s job is to deal with fires on campus. This involves dealing with fires when they occur as well as preventing them through campus upkeep and education on how to maintain fire-safe spaces. One of the most important aspects of fire safety is the evacuation plan. According to Reyes, fire drills are mandated in New York State public buildings.
