American Revolution Scrapbook James Condon Lexington and Concord April 19, 1775, the shot heard round the world was fired. This marked the beginning of the revolutionary war. The battle of Lexington and Concord has begun. The British marched here because it was an arms stockpile for the Americans. No one truly knows who fired first, and the Americans had to eventually retreat. They successfully slowed the British down, and by the time the British reached the stockpile, the Americans were waiting for them. The greater American force had the British retreating in no time. The stockpile was saved!
