W h i l e t h e l e f t o v e r s o f Thanksgiving feasts are still warm, the weather outside will be turning colder and colder on Thursday as a Canadian air mass moves into the area that evening. Forecasters warn that a wet system with “abundant moisture” will over-run the cold air, resulting in freezing rain and icy conditions Friday and through the weekend across the southern plains of West Texas. The National Weather Service in Lubbock predicts temperatures flirting with the high 20s or low 30s. Most of Thanksgiving Day will be prime weather for that family football game in the front yard though, with mild conditions and temperatures in the 60s. Chances of precipitation will increase in the evening hours and by Friday, the high temperature will struggle to hit 30 degrees. Meteorologists with the NWS said snow isn’t likely this weekend, but hazardous driving conditions could pose problems for holiday travelers.
