“This circuit is best known for its combination of a long straight [1.5km] and a twisty infield. This makes finding the ideal aerodynamic set-up very difficult. Engineers must choose between low downforce for the straight and high downforce for the slower, twistier section. The first alternative tends to be the preferred option, so tyres need to respond by providing as much grip as possible for the infield section. Tyre choice is often decisive.”
