Bill of Rights Unit
Target Audience: Middle School
Day 1: I will provide the anticipatory set for the unit. Upon welcoming the students to
the library, I will ask the students to discuss some of the freedoms that are most
important to them as a citizens of the United States. After our brief discussion, I will ask
what they already know about the Bill of Rights and then explain further some of the
important facts. (Teacher input recommended)
Display the Bill of Rights on the projector <www.archives.gov>
The teacher and I will take turns frontloading vocabulary *pre-teaching. After discussing
some of the challenging words, students will then take the remainder of the class to
define additional words that have been highlighted on their ?sheet? They may utilize
the school dictionaries, online dictionary <www.m-w.com>, or use context clues.
