Sergeants Pet Care Closing Memphis Operations
Sergeant's Pet Care Products will close its Memphis distribution facility and shift those operations
to Omaha, Neb., according to press reports. Sergeants will shift around 60 jobs from Memphis to a
350,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center under construction now in the Omaha
area, according to the Omaha World-Herald. The Omaha, Neb.-based company said it is
relocating the Memphis operations to be closer to other Sergeant facilities and to take advantage
of tax savings. Being closer to Sergeants two primary production facilities in Omaha and Kansas
City (Kan.) provides significant freight savings, the company said in a statement to the WorldHerald. Being near Sergeants management offices allows for better utilization of resources and
improved support from management. Sergeants had been operating in 150,000 square feet at
4366 Malone Road in Southeast Memphis
