What is High Blood Pressure?
Having high blood pressure is very common among adults.
In fact, 1 in 3 adults suffer from this condition. Adults with
high blood pressure are at an increased risk of developing
other health problems. High blood pressure can lead to
coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure
and more.
“Blood pressure” is the force of blood pushing against the
walls of the arteries as the heart pumps. Also, there are two
types of measurements, “systolic” and “diastolic”. Systolic
refers to blood pressure when the heart beats (contracts)
while pumping blood. Diastolic refers to blood pressure
when the heart is at rest between beats.
