The Value Of CNC Equipment
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) is a process that evolved within the metalworking trade.
Originally designed to increase accuracy, the CNC equipment made machine processes more
efficient. The fabrication process was managed before computer control was developed by paper
punch cards and with equipment that was manually run. For the operators of the fabricating
devices, these punch cards provided important parameters. Until the industry started to expand
and become a lot more competitive, this method work relatively well. It was necessary to use an
assembly line environment to help keep pace with the market as the product lines became more
complex. The mental and physical fatigue experienced by human operators on an assembly line
led to decreased accuracy. In addition, the amount of work individuals could complete was
minimal. At this stage, manufacturers looked for ways to increase production from the assembly
line.
