CAMPAIGN PLANNING STUDY Fact Sheet St. James the Apostle Catholic Church was established OUR PARISH 47 years ago with the Rev. John Morgan as our founding pastor. In the early years, our devout community gathered to celebrate Sunday Masses in the auditorium of Patterson Elementary School in Fremont. Several families hosted daily Masses at their homes until 1976, when the Most Rev. Floyd Begin – the first Bishop of Oakland – dedicated the present Multi-Purpose Hall, which was meant to be a temporary worship space. Since then, St. James has continued to grow both in faith and numbers. Today, our parish includes more than 1,000 registered families. The St. James the Apostle campus has grown as well. In 2016, by the grace of God and thanks to the sacrificial generosity of countless parish families, we opened the doors to the Mother Teresa Center. Our children – the future of our parish – are delighted to have a worthy place for their human, spiritual and religious formation today. Now, it
