The passage presented, narrated from the point of view of a growing child, nourishes from
not only direct speech or inversion to portray the boy´s curiosity but incredibly well
description of his family by using hyperboles and words carefully chosen so as to transmit
the astonishment of the main character.
At the very first beginning if the story, readers deal with the boy´s curiosity when they
noticed direct speech as the child wonders “what´s that?” This feature strikes readers due to
the fact that they are asked by the character and feel that the boy is giving too much
importance to the piece of skin from an early age. However, not only this feature is present
by the use of direct speech but inversion when the child states “Never in my life have i
wanted anything as i wanted that piece of skin”, in order to make more emphasis on both
the object and the constant increasing curiosity of the main character. However, curiosity in
