Trash Hauling Services Transferred
Smoothly
Residents might not notice, but there's a new trash hauler in town.
The city's longtime refuse collector, Briggeman Disposal Inc., merged with Republic
Industries Solid Waste Services Inc. last month in a smooth transition that city officials
say will be "transparent" to customers.
The City Council approved the transfer of refuse franchise to Republic earlier this week
after finding that the Delaware-based trash hauler met the city's conditions of operation.
City officials required that Republic provide refuse collection in neighboring cities and
that it have the capability and resources to provide quality service to Seal Beach.
"This merger will be transparent to residents of Seal Beach," City Manager Keith Till
said.
George Briggeman jr., owner of the old Los Alamitos trash hauling company, will be the
city's liaison with the new hauler.
The same trash trucks with the Briggeman name will continue to operate in the city.
