A Variety of Sediment Control Products are Available To Deal with Soil Erosion
Everyone is aware of the negative effects of soil erosion and sedimentation. When the surface of the
Earth is exposed to the excessive rainfall, there is an increase in the velocity and volume of runoff.
This results in the transport and deposition of sediment, reduced stream capacity and also increases
stream scour and flooding. The suspended sediment drastically decline the quality of water by
blocking sunlight, reducing photosynthesis and decreasing plant growth. They destroy the habitat of
the aquatic species by carrying attached pollutants such as phosphorous etc. Practice of sediment
control is generally done to keep eroded soil on a construction site. This prevents wash off and
water pollution to a nearby lake, sea, stream or river. Whenever there is a construction activity done,
problems like soil erosion, stream channel damage, decreased ground water storage, water
pollution, flooding and slope fail
