The Board of the Cayucos Land Conservancy wanted some community feedback about how the
CLC was perceived by Cayucos residents and whether the Estero Bluffs were enjoyed by locals. To this
end, Landon Mortimer, a Cal Poly student majoring in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration,
completed his Senior Project by conducting research on these topics. After meeting with Board members and determining what types of data CLC desired, the project began to take shape.A few interesting
research findings and suggestions are summarized below.
A sample of 150 randomly selected Cayucos residents completed questionnaires. Results indicated
that, as a whole, the Cayucos population is aware of CLC and 88% of non-members surveyed had a
neutral through positive perception. Results also found that nearly 70% of residents use both Estero
Bluffs and the beach/bluffs south of town for recreational purposes. In addition, people who have lived
