T o promote electricity retail sales for smalllot users, the Organization for Cross-regional Coordination of Transmission Operations (OCCTO) is working on increasing the competition among power suppliers beyond traditionally demarcated service areas. To that end, OCCTO is facilitating power transmission throughout Japan. At present, 1.2 million kW of electricity can be transmitted between the country's western and eastern regions. U N sanctions are likely to be lifted in early July, prompting some analysts to suggest that a gas deal could be struck before July 9. Sticking points seem to be sanctions snapback mechanics and IAEA access. Iran and the P5+1 countries reached a political nuclear agreement in early April and attempt to reach a comprehensive nuclear deal by July 7th. Congressional oversight also adds urgency to an early July agreement, analysts at Morgan Stanley suggested.
