One LNG carrier newbuilding will be delivered in 2017 and one in 2018. The ships are being designed on DSME’s new eco-ship design with MEGI engines, and also include partial re-liquefaction systems for low boil-off. The newbuildings will bring BW's LNG fleet size to 20 ships. DSME said last year it had completed five orders of its eco-ship design: designs feature MAN Diesel’s ME-GI (gas injection) engine and DSME’s self-developed high pressure gas supplying devices, with a view towards meeting the IMO’s EEDI index on ship fuel efficiency. DSME was developing its NO96 CCS (Cargo Containment System) targeting boil-off rate reduction. Shipowners hold back on GAIL shipbuilding tender A tender is underway this month to ship to Indian state-owned gas supplier GAIL, and is due to wrap up by 30 October, but it appears shipowners and shipyards may be holding back on this, TradeWinds reported.
