A A new report from analysts Euroconsult has claimed that the value of the mar- itime satellite communications mar- ket has reached almost $1 billion in annual revenue at the satellite opera- tor level, and is closing in on $2 bil- lion in annual revenue at the service provider level. Specifically, the ‘Prospects for Maritime Satellite Communications’ report says that in 2015 the maritime market of approximately 338,000 ter- minals created $953 million in satel- lite operator revenues, and $1.7 bil- lion for service providers. With a growth rate of 5 per cent in terminals and revenue predicted over the next ten years, that would mean that satellite operator revenues will surpass $1 billion by the end of 2016, and service providers will pass $2 bil- lion annually before the end of 2018.
