LNG JOURNAL PUBLICATION 9 June 2015 LNG Unlimited One of the main issues that emerged at the 26th World Gas Conference in Paris was how countries with natural gas resources have to find ways to balance raising revenue from liquefied natural gas production while meeting domestic energy demand. Royal Dutch Shell’s Vice President of Integrated Gas Maarten Wetselaar touched on the issue in his presentation when he focused on several countries, including Indonesia and Nigeria. Balance He pointed out that exporting countries needed to strike a balance. On the one hand, they need to supply power to local people and businesses. This requires building infrastructure, such as pipeline networks, as well as a domestic market structure.
