LNG JOURNAL PUBLICATION 28 April 2015 LNG Unlimited The first liquefied natural gas-fuelled ferry to be deployed in North American waters has arrived in the Canadian province of Quebec where it will operate on the Saint Lawrence River. Quebec officials and shipping executives welcomed the arrival of the vessel at the small Port of Matane from where the Italianbuilt ship will operate. Route The LNG ferry, named the "MV F.A. Gauthier", will be operated by the French-speaking Canadian province's ferry company Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ). The LNG-fuelled ferry will be fitted out in Quebec and will operate on the lower Saint Lawrence River route linking Matane, Comeau and Godbout, known as the Îles de-la Madeleine region. The ferry, which can carry up to 800 passengers and up to 180 vehicles, will operate all year round with two to six daily crossings depending on the season. "The 'F.A.
