A A irbus Group has announced that it has signed an agree- ment with French private equity firm, Apax Partners, for the sale of 100 per cent of its commercial satellite communication business, including direct sales arm Marlink and all reseller contracts. The final closing of the transac- tion based on this share purchase agreement (SPA) – subject to regula- tory approvals – is expected to take place in the next few months. The cost of the transaction has not been disclosed. Airbus Defence and Space announced in September of 2014, following an assessment of its business strategy, that it had defined military aircraft, space, missiles and related sys- tems and services as its future core businesses. As such, its commercial sat- coms business, including serv- ices to the maritime industry, did not fit those strategic goals, and the decision was taken to sell this section of the company.
