Seaspan operates a fleet of ferries, barges, tugs and bulk carriers. Seaspan’s two dual-fuel LNG car ferries are being constructed by Sedef shipyard in Turkey, with construction starting in early 2015 and finishing in 2016. FortisBC began building added storage and liquefaction capacity at its Tilbury Island LNG storage facility, which liquefies and regasifies stored pipeline gas, in October to meet long-term demand for LNG-as-fuel for transport, industry and power generation. Vice president of Seaspan Ferries Corporation Steve Roth said, “Today’s announcement demonstrates a clear commitment to our drop-trailer customers through the modernization of an aging fleet.” Seaspan also has three shipyards and bunkering operations, but its decision to build the ferries in Turkey was based on capacity restrictions. It is working on a five-to-seven-year-project to build non-combat ships for the Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard under the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS). Or
