RiverTALK FREE M a r c h 2 3 , 2 0 1 8 | Vo l u m e 8 , No. 2 4 Enderby Library grows beyond books By Jackie Pearase The growth of the Enderby Library to provide the community with more than just books now includes an effort to help people grow food. A cooperative effort between community li- brarian Dawn Wierzbicki and Shuswap Seed Sav- ers has resulted in a seed library being established at the local branch this spring. Dawn said the group approached her last year with the idea but she was just new to her position and wanted to wait. This spring, she got going with good start-up information from the Vernon Library, which has its own seed library (Summerland also has one while Revelstoke and Lumby are working on their seed libraries) and seed donated by various local growers. A small metal filing drawer at the Enderby branch filled up quickly with a variety of donated seeds, from tomatoes to orach, that are now avail- able to community members at no cost.
