CIVIL RIGHTS In the 50s and 60s there was a movement because black people wanted to have the same rights of the white people. They usually consider that this period begins with the Montgomery bus boycott (It was a political and social protest that began in 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, with the intention of opposing the policy of racial segregation in the public transport system). and ends with the assassination of Martin Luther King in 1968, although the civil rights movement in the United States continues in many ways to this day. The objectives were to end discrimination against black people. These struggles lasted a long time and were carried out in a non-violent way, so that all people have the same rights and equalities before the law.
