This investigation presents the theme of the Great Patriotic War in the history of
the village Otyassy which is situated in the centre of Tambov region. A large
number of our villagers were killed during that terrible war. Among them there
were those people who went to the front from school. One of them was Alexey
Arkhipovich Zakharov. He conferred the tittle of Hero of the Soviet Union on his
courage when he was only 20. This investigation is devoted to the study of the
facts of his childhood and youth, his life at the front, his feat of arms and the
circumstances of his death. But it is important not only to note the facts of sixty
five years’ standing, but also to remember our past if we want to have a future. It
is easier to understand and remember the history of our country tracing the lives
of our compatriots and countrymen.
The purpose of this investigation is the collection and study the information
about the leaver of Otyasskaya Secondary school Alexey Arkhipovich
Zakharov.
