Colombia has been an important country for its biodiversity
and its natural parks. Currently one of the most important
nature reserves in the world is called Serranía de
Chiribiquete. It is located in Colombia’s Amazonia between
Caquetá and Guaviare departments. It has some tall and big
hills surrounded by the jungle. This place is the shelter of
thousand of new species and extinction species. Also it has
more than 250.000 pictograms in the rocks from an aboriginal
ethnic group called Karijona. If you want to know beautiful

At the end of 1987, Parques Nacionales’ leader called Carlos
Castaño Uribe made a scientific expedition in Colombia’s
Amazonia. In September 1989, this trip allowed to
declare a bigger protected area in Colombia called
Parque Nacional Natural Serranía de Chiribiquete with
1.298.900 hectares.
