Mauritius Launches Hotel Classification Project
If you have trouble trying to separate out Mauritius family hotels from golf resorts and honeymoon
destinations, there soon could be some relief in sight.
According to a draft of a letter sent to foreign tour
operators around the world, the Mauritius government is set to undertake a project that would classify all
hotels operating on the island.
The project was created back in November 2011 as part of government
negotiations for the 2012 budget year.
According to an official document released by the Mauritian
government the project will be headed up by the Ministry of Tourism & Leisure in concert with hotel
operators and other tourism industry officials.
The hope is to create a system whereby tour operators and
hoteliers can better market resort properties in a way that is easier for tourists to understand.
