White call boxes on campus will soon be a thing of
the past.
The university is entering a new phase of replacing white solar-powered
emergency call boxes with
more reliable hard-wired
blue call boxes, university
spokeswoman Kristin Sullivan said.
Unlike the older white
ones, the new call boxes are
blue and have already been
placed in 54 locations.
The
university plans to have 70
boxes completed by September to replace the 68 previous ones, with 10 to 12 more
coming in the fall.
If any boxes have a sign
saying, “Do not use, not
working,” it is in the process
of being connected and tested, Sullivan said.
A working
older box will be close to the
new one in the meantime,
