If two teams drop from the
Western Athletic Conference, UTA
might consider going to another
conference, athletics director Jim
Baker said.
“We haven’t contacted any
[conferences],” Baker said.
“We’re
gathering with the president to
look at the ‘what if’ and where
would we fit the best and the main
thing we need to look at geographically and what makes sense for the
university and what makes sense
academically.
”
During the President’s Roundtable discussion on Monday, Baker
said UTA is looking at two other
conferences if the WAC falls apart.
He didn’t name those two conferences.
As of right now, UTA will join
the WAC on July 1.
Baker said
he hopes to have a better feel of
what is going on with different
conferences after the WAC spring
meeting.
