On court five, a player for LASO,
a team made up of members from
the Latin American Student Organization, called for a timeout in
between serves.
A couple rounds in
the muddy courts turned vicious,
and the suction from the thick ooze
pulled off his left shoe, despite the
duct tape wrapped around it.
Amid sideline cheers from a large
group of LASO supporters he finally managed to extricate
his shoe.
The shoe emitted
a loud, wet “sluck” as it was
pulled from the mud.
As play resumed, cheers
of “Let’s go, LASO” and the
frantic waving of a yellow,
mud-speckled sign that read
“LASO! Woot! Woot! Latinos!” intensified, reaching a deafening roar
as the rainbow-colored volle
