Time is running out for students
who want to opt out of the student
directory, “Maverick Connection.
”
Monday is Census Day and students must have privacy setting
changes made by then to be reflected
in the 2010-11 directory.
Without
restricting personal information in
the MyMav student information system, directory information will be
disclosed to internal and external
requests.
For some students, the ability to
restrict information came as a big
surprise.
“I had no idea that you could
change that,” business management
senior Heather Morgan said.
“Last
year whenever the directory was out
on the tables, I found myself in it and
I was very surprised.
I immediately
told my fiancée about it: ‘Look, my
phone number is in here, and people
can just randomly call me.
’”
